Cinnamon & Cardamom Hot Chocolate

Cinnamon & Cardamom Hot Chocolate

IMG_8995 (1).jpg

This is an incredibly thick and rich hot chocolate, perfectly balanced by the addition of cardamom & cinnamon which round out the flavours & make it feel a little more grown up.

Notes:

Chocolate:

  • If you don’t have any dark chocolate, feel free to use milk chocolate, but reduce the amount of sugar in the recipe by about 20g

  • You can skip the chocolate entirely if you don’t have any, the hot chocolate just won’t be as rich, though it will still thicken

Milk:

  • I like to use whole milk here, buy you can use any of your liking, including dairy alternatives

Serves: 2-3/ Time: 10 mins
Ingredients

  • 600ml Milk of choice (I used whole)

  • 50g Dark Chocolate (I used 70%)

  • 2 tbsp/15g Cocoa Powder

  • 1tbsp/10g Cornflour

  • 3 tbsp/45g Granulated Sugar

  • 1/4 tsp Salt

  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp ground cardamom

Method

- Mix together the cocoa powder, cornflour, sugar, salt, cinnamon & cardamom

- Add the milk and cocoa mixture to a small pot & whisk until well combined, and put on a medium-low heat

- After about 3 mins, add in the chocolate (chopped) and whisk again until smooth

- Let simmer for a further 3-4 mins, and stir every so often

- Once it starts to bubble and thicken, take off the heat
